Tennis is how I start my day four days a week, if I am lucky. I have been coached by Damien and Duncan now for the last two and a half years while in Barbados. My sessions begin at 5.45am. They are always punctual and prepared when I arrive on the court. My hour long sessions consist of a series of drills to improve my shot making, footwork, service and agility on the court. I have improved my endurance and consistency considerably over this time. Apart from tennis coaching, my sessions contain a fair amount of philosophy, politics, Barbados culture and friendship. After all isn't tennis a metaphor for life?

Damien Applewhaite is the Director and Head Coach of Advantage Tennis Services. He was born in Barbados, and has represented Barbados at Junior level and is a 5-time Davis Cup member. Damien has been coaching for 10 years, and is affiliated with some of the biggest tennis institutions on the island such as Sandy Lane Resort, Fairmont Group and Ocean View Tennis Club.

Also in his time coaching he has worked abroad in Denmark, England and South America. This has allowed him to work with all types and standards of players, from beginners, club players, to county standard through to international players.

I.T.F. Level 2 Certification

Duncan Evanson is a Partner in Advantage Tennis Services. Barbadian by birth, he has represented Barbados at the junior level, having achieved an ITF world ranking in under 18. Duncan has been coaching tennis for 5 years and worked as Senior Assistant to Sydney Lopez at the Ocean View Tennis Club for 3 years. Duncan is particularly strong in the management of junior (children's) clinics and in technical analysis.
